The Early Years1965 to 1975

1965
  • Kenji Takahashi became independent at the age of 22 years and 7 months.
  • Opened Takahashi Shoten, a booth selling whale meat (inside the Shonai branch of Super Ace).
1967
  • Established Dairiki Eiyo Shokuhin.
  • Launched sales of yakiniku ingredients.
1971
  • Kenji Takahashi visited Europe.
  • Encountered Bernard, the world’s largest general butcher shop.
1972
  • Made renovations inspired by Bernard upon returning to Japan and opened a third location (Toyonaka branch, now the main Dairiki shop).
  • Established Dairiki Shokuhin Co., Ltd. (5 million yen in capital / Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture).
  • Launched franchise business.
1974
  • Established the Dairiki Franchise Headquarters (Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture).
1975
  • Celebrated the 10th anniversary of the company’s founding.

1976
  • Began opening tenant booths in Izumiya supermarkets; Expanded the network of directly managed locations.
1978
  • Renamed the company “Dairiki Shokuhin Co., Ltd.” (Changed the writing of Dairiki from kanji to katakana)
  • Opened the main Dairiki shop, a large-scale (roughly 165 m2) shop selling yakiniku products and frozen imported beef, along with pork, chicken, ham, and processed foods.
  • Began hiring new university graduates; The first round of recruits joined the company.
1981
  • Completed a new company building. Held ceremony to mark its completion.
1985
  • Opened the first All Days location under a new business format (in Awaji).
  • Completed the Dairiki dormitory and company housing.
  • Formulated the management philosophy of “valuable management.”
  • Celebrated the 20th anniversary of the company’s founding.
    Invited roughly 200 business partners to the 20th anniversary ceremony held at the RIHGA Royal Hotel in Nakanoshima.

1986
  • The Uruguay Round of trade liberalization negotiations began.
  • Efforts to liberalize the trade of beef began to gain momentum, primarily in the US.
1989
  • Opened the first Kanto region retail store (Funabashi branch).
1991
  • The Japanese government liberalized the trade of beef.
1992
  • Sales exceeded 10 billion yen. Sales were boosted by liberalization of the trade of beef and the economic boom at the time.
  • Revision of the Act on the Measures by Large-Scale Retail Stores for Preservation of Living Environment. Targets for new business locations shifted from shopping districts to shipping center, and openings accelerated.
1993
  • Expanded into the restaurant business.
    Opened the first Aburiya restaurant (Sonezaki branch) designed as an urban yakiniku restaurant serving authentic yakiniku in the style of an izakaya pub.
  • Opened the first Nagoya region retail store (APiTA Minato branch).
  • Changed the company name to “Dairiki Co., Ltd.”
  • Relocated the head office from Shonai, the location of the company’s founding, to Nishi Ward, Osaka City.
1994
  • Opened a training center (by refitting the former head office in Toyonaka City).
1995
  • Celebrated the 30th anniversary of the company’s founding.
    Invited roughly 300 business partners to the 30th anniversary ceremony held at the Hotel New Otani in Osaka.

1996
  • Established the Dairiki Group Mutual Prosperity Association.
1998
  • Opened the first Aburiya restaurant (Ikawadani branch) designed as a suburban yakiniku restaurant.
1999
  • Completed the new head office building, and relocated head office functions (Nishi Ward, Osaka City).
  • Opened the first retail store (Kobe Gyuya, Nagoya branch) in a department store.
2000
  • Revised the Aburiya suburban yakiniku restaurant business format, and opened the first One Karubi restaurant (Ootorikita branch).
  • Opened the first Shikoku region retail store (Imabari branch).
  • Opened the first Chugoku region retail store (Higashi Hiroshima branch).
2001
  • September 10: Cattle infected with BSE found in Chiba Prefecture.
  • ・September 11: The 9/11 terrorist attacks occurred in New York.
  • ・September 14: Mycal, which had 27 retail stores, went bankrupt.
2003
  • Cattle infected with BSE found in the US, and imports of American beef suspended.
2005
  • Celebrated the 40th anniversary of the company’s founding.
    Invited roughly 200 business partners to the joint ceremony for the 40th anniversary of the company’s founding and the 10th anniversary of Mutual Prosperity Association held at the Ritz-Carlton in Osaka.

2006
  • Opened the first One Kalbi Plus+, a suburban, table-order, all-you-can-eat, yakiniku restaurant (Suminodo branch).
  • Opened the first Kin no Buta, a suburban, table-order, all-you-can-eat, shabu-shabu restaurant (Ootorikita branch).
2008
  • Company split into Dairiki Co., Ltd. (with 95 million yen in capital) and One Dining Co., Ltd. (with 305.7 million yen in capital).
    Jun Takahashi appointed president of One Dining Co., Ltd.
2011
  • Completed the new One Dining headquarters building (support center).
  • The Great East Japan Earthquake occurred. Corporate reputation damaged due to cesium contamination.
2013
  • One Dining awarded the Japan Quality Award (Large Scale Division), a first in the restaurant industry.
  • Opened the first Kyushu region One Kalbi (Kasuga branch).
2014
  • Opened the first Kin no Buta Premium, an urban, table-order, all-you-can-eat, shabu-shabu restaurant (inside Hotel Nikko in Shinsaibashi), marking the company’s 100th location.
2015
  • Opened the first One Kalbi Premium, an urban, table-order, all-you-can-eat, yakiniku restaurant (Nakasu branch).
  • Celebrated the 50th anniversary of the company’s founding. Invited a total of 635 attendees to the 50th anniversary ceremony held at the Imperial Hotel in Osaka.
  • Opened the first One Kalbi Grill restaurant (Itami Mizuho branch).

  • Launched the 1&D Holdings system.
2017
  • Opened the first Ichiban Jidori restaurant (Yawata branch), a grilled chicken and chicken hotpot all-you-can-eat restaurant.
  • Opened the Kanto Office in Musashino City, Tokyo.
2018
  • Opened the first Kanto region One Kalbi restaurant (Hanakoganei branch).
2020
  • Opened Onikuya-san no Hitori Yakiniku (Dairiki Wakae Iwata Ekimae branch), the first integrated butcher shop and yakiniku restaurant.
2021
  • 1&D Holdings awarded the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon.
  • Opened the first Yakiniku Time restaurant (Suminoe branch), a low-priced all-you-can-eat yakiniku restaurant.
  • Opened the first Hitori Karubi 1965 restaurant (Kappa Yokocho branch), a yakiniku restaurant for customers dining alone.
  • Renovated Nichijou Nikumeshi the BENTO (Dairiki APiTA Nagakute branch), the first integrated butcher shop and yakiniku bento shop.
2022
  • Renovated the first location combining three yakiniku restaurant formats (Dairiki Ito-Yokado Koshien branch).
2023
  • Opened the first Korean Dining and Cafe Kin no Buta (Kawachi Matsubara branch).
2024
  • Opened the first ABURIYA arata restaurant (KITTE OSAKA), a Japanese Black beef yakiniku restaurant
  • Reopened a Dairiki restaurant in the Kanto region for the first time in nine years (Dairiki Ito-Yokado Kuki branch)
  • Opened the first One Calbi restaurant (Hikari no Mori branch) in Kumamoto Prefecture
2025
  • Established the overseas subsidiary ONE Dining VIETNAM Co., Ltd.
  • 1&D Holdings, One Dining, and Dairiki merged and started afresh as 1&D Co., Ltd.
  • Opened the first Wabi, a Japanese beef kaiseki-style restaurant (Grand Green Osaka)
